I have confirmed, to my satisfaction, that there is a permission problem
somewhere. From my KDE desktop, I opened up a virtual terminal and SUed to
root. Then, I typed in the following: "/usr/X11R6/bin/x11amp." I was able to
then play an MP3, where if I just click on the icon I created for X11Amp, it
launches, but refuses to play and when I shut down X, I'll get the message
"cannot open audio."
Any ideas?
