No, the sysadmin at that site did. This is an old problem plaguing the list.
Someone at that site was subscribed, then left his position there. So the
sysadmin deleted his account. Now every time majordomo tries to send a
message from the list to that address, it generates a bounce, which goes to
the individual who originally posted the message (not to the list owner, as
it should).
About a month ago, I suggested several ways the sysadmin at that site could
fix the problem (this in response to a message he posted explaining that the
problem was not his fault but the fault of the list owner). Unfortunately,
he hasn't managed to implement my suggestions, or any other solution,
correctly, and the bounces continue.
I have my mailer set to discard them unread. I suggest you do the same. This
problem has persisted for an extraordinarily long time, and alas, it will
continue until one of two things happens:
1. The sysadmin in question corrects the problem (most easily done
by recreating the account, using it to send an unsubscribe message, then
deleting the account).
2. Someone at vger (whoever acts as "owner-linux-newbie", if indeed
anyone does) deletes the account from the relevant mejordomo list.
Either solution is about 5 minutes' work for someone, but neither can be
done by us ordinary list members.
BTW, I usually respond privately to posts of this sort, to avoid bogging
down the list in trivia. I'm making an exception this time, only because I
imagine that a lot of people who have joined the list recently are wondering
about these messages when they get them.
