In a text file on KDE.Org, there is a trick they suggest: ftp://ftp.varesearch.com/pub/mirrors/kde/stable/1.1.1/distribution/rpm/RedHat-5.2/i386/Upgrading_to_RedHat-6.0 (2) To make RedHat 6.0 use kdm as the X display manager, just type "ln -sf ../../usr/bin/kdm /etc/X11/prefdm" (3) To make "startx" on RedHat 6.0 start kde, create a file .Xclients in the user's home directory, containing the single line "exec /usr/bin/startkde" and then make it world-executable, with "chmod a+x .Xclients" I just use and alias in my .bashrc file such as: alias win="kdm" then source it... steve
