You have to choose who you want to talk to, either the printer, or the
zip drive. As such you need to load either the lp.o (printer) or ppa.o
(zip) module when you want to talk to each one. e.g. if the lp.o module
is loaded, and you want to talk to teh zip you have to
rmmod lp
insmod ppa.o
then mount the zip
What could be happening is you are loading the ppa module at start-up.
Check the /etc/rc.d/rc.modules script to see what is loading. Also, you
may find that your selected printer (HP ...) is incompatable and to need
to choose a differnet one.
Try just cating to the printer
cat sometextfile > lp0
If that doesn't work, I would suspect the proper module isn't loaded.
