As a Linux rookie, I need a good book or two. I installed SuSE 6.1
easily and quickly (I see everybody uses RH, sorry), and my target tasks
are word processing, graphics, e-mail and just browsing (no hosting on)
the internet. I have all I need in the SuSE distribution. My goals are
to escape Windows and have a stable, lean, efficient, secure and
powerful system that I can use from the command line as much as
possible--I hate despise loathe a GUI. I realize I have to use X for
The Gimp, but I want to set things up so I don't boot in X. I'm
confused and uncertain as to the optimum setup for my tasks: in the past
I have installed too much software, and I learned my lesson. I plan to
reinstall SuSE when I get my ducks in a row. Let me know what books to
study, please, as I need a little more than I get in the SuSE
documentation. I'm coming from DOS (where my skills are very modest)
and 2 years of cursing Win95. I'm not scared of learning something, and
I promise I will RTFM, I really really will! TIA
