My problem is a bit similar.
initially, i had installed win95 on a 1.2 gb partition (primary
dos) and linux on the remainder of the disk( of a 2.1 gb hard disk). now,
in true fashion, win95 crashed. so i decided to upgrade to win98. so i
have win98 on my primary dos partition but the 813 mb where RH 5.0 was
installed appears as a secondary dos partition ( in msdos fdisk).
before the crash, i had three partitions viz.
primary dos 1.2 gb
non dos (linux native)
non dos (linux swap)
how did this change occur?
also now i can't delete the secondary dos partition! since i have
installed win98 i can't use linux fdisk. how do i recover the 813 mb?
msdos fdisk says there are logical drives in the sec. partition but it
doesn't display any info abt them nor can i delete it. HELP!!
