Well, I tried it and same error. I think it cannot find the network name. I
do it by <servername> and it says unknownhost <servername>, I do it by IP and
I get the above mentioned message. Just for info, I am an NT admin and am
trying to learn Linux to provide my boss with better options for his network,
I read somewhere that I could implement a HOSTS file on my box. Would this
help as there is no way to implement an DNS server at this time. (The people
here before my co-worker and myself really boned this network. ) SMBCLIENT
has no way of knowing who <servername> is. What does everybody think? And if
a HOSTS file is possible, how?
