People have given you many good suggestions. But this is a tricky problem,
so let me offer one more.
A. Move all other directories and files out of the directory that contains
this problem directory. That is, make sure this is the ONLY item in the
directory.
B. Use the wildcard character to remove it: "rm -r *"
