Well, a complete reinstall wouldn't hurt, but you might try
typing "linux single" at the LILO prompt and boot into
single user mode and then type "passwd root" and change the
password. :-)
As for the KDE problem, maybe if you downloaded and
installed the updated files from the home site for your
distribution? I updated my RedHat 6.0 install to kde 1.1.1
using the RPM files in the "update" directory and it's
working great! :-)
