i recently purchased a copy of RH 5.2 off ebay so that i could upgrade my
5.0 system. however, when i went to upgrade, it exited with a "could not
mount" error. I then rebooted my old 486 system, and tried to mount it
normally. i have one of the old soundblaster cdroms, and sbpcd exited with
the error "CD contains no data tracks". I began to think i was the victim of
an ebay screw, but i decided to make sure first. win98 reads them fine (on a
different machine, with a new IDE DVD drive) and i can boot the same new
machine with the linux boot disk and the cd mounts normally as well.

my question is this. its obviously not the cds, and ive been able to mount
cds using the old comp before. is it : sbpcd going nuts, or my drive finally
rolling over and dying?
