Caldera is, probably, the easiest dist. Other easy
dists are SuSE <http://www.suse.com> and Red Hat
<http://www.redhat.com>.
Debian is a more newbie-unfriendly guru-oriented and
full-GPL'd dist. It let you take more control over
your system, but it's harder to configure.

Some Windoze programs run in Linux with the Wine
emulator. Windoze 3.11 programs run with Wabi, but
it's proprietary software. And M$-DOS applications
runs with dosemu (a DOS emulator).
There is also a PC emulator, but you need a very
fast machine.
