I dont quite see what that has to do with a java applet in netscape, unless
of course java binary's are concerned, if thats the case then before
netscape is loaded one should make sure that the 'java' module is loaded.

Now just a note on java not being in many kernels, remember one thing, most
distribution kernels dont have much compiled into them, they are "modular"
which means most things which are not used "all" of the time are modules,
ie, binfmt_java.o found in /lib/modules/2.2.5-15/fs which is the standardly
installed kernel from a redhat 6.0 installation.

OTHERWISE.

A more likly explanation is that there is no "enviroment" variable set for
things like java qt and possably even ld.

I recently lost my whole system on which i had all of my last 3 years work
on, so i cant just call up a file thesedays which would have given you
examples, so possably others will help both of you out there.

But possably the system does not support java properly becuase there is no
enviroment defined for java as per above.
