Just log in as the normal user account! Redhat should already have Gnome set up
automatically for all users.
There will be stuff that you can't access as a normal user, and for that you
will need to log in as root. Then, instead of using the Gnome file manager
(GMC), just start a terminal and type away on the command line.
Incidentaly, you do have a Redhat manual. Just poke around /usr/doc and you
should find it. If not, poke around on the CD.
