agressive backups :)

Hi!
I'm trying to adopt a strong backup policy in my PCs.
I could deal to write very little scripts to perform the backup I want.
now, I'd like to execute this script as root and if possible at
shutdown/reboot (or init, in second instance).
I _think_ that just by adding my backup scripts to shutdown it would run
as root, is that right?
