I'm not one of the list's experts on this, so I can only offer a preliminary
comment. Older kernels (2.0.x) cannot share the parallel port between a
printer and a ZIP drive. I understand that the 2.2.x kernels, which use a
newer parallel port module, can. To get help on this, you'll need to follow
up with a posting that describes the details of your software: distribution,
version, and kernel version.
Also clarify the meaning of "Linux doesnt even know lp0 exists" -- what test
and result is this based on? dmesg? trying lpr? reading /proc/interrupts?
something else?
