1. Make sure that computer A is running the needed daemons -- rpc.portmap,
rpc.mountd, and rpc.nfsd .

2. If they are running okay, tell us **exactly** what is in /etc/exports and
**exactly** what the exchange is when you try to mount /dir1 (what you enter
as well as the complete response - no paraphrasing or skipping "obvious" parts).

3. If you haven't already done so, make sure the two hosts can communicate -
can each ping the other? telnet to the other?
