I don't think the original sender was asking for anything illegal.  He
wanted to know if there was a way to recover data in a MS Word file that he
had password protected.  How that comprises illegal information...I don't
know.

In response to the original poster...I doubt you will be able to recover it.
My guess is that it is encrypted and you'll have better luck pulling
chicken's teeth than recovering the data in the file.
