In the system log I find an abundance of these messages:

gpm[...]: No data

Where ... is the PID.

This started on my Compaq Presario 1234 running SuSE 6.1 (all kernels from
2.2.6 thru 2.2.10).
At first I thought it was a hardware problem (TouchPad and PS/2 mouse
fighting) and didn't think much of it.

However, this weekend I installed the same SuSE 6.1 distro on a Pentium 90
with a serial mouse. And the same message shows up in the log.

Does anybody have a clue what might cause this and how I can get rid of
these messages?

TIA,
