FTP - just hangs....Red Hat 6.0 help

Hi,

I hope someone can help?

When I try to ftp to the linux box...

This is what I get:

STATUS:> Connecting to 192.168.127.1
STATUS:> Connecting to 192.168.127.1 [ip = 192.168.127.1]
STATUS:> Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message...

Then just hangs.

I can use ncftp on the linux box to ftp it self....
  (ncftp 192.168.127.1) and it tell me that I am loged into 
(GL.glassline.net FTP sever) guest login ok...


Can anyone help?
