Hi,

Well I run into trouble with my work computer... I cant boot Linux (RedHat
6.0) with Boot Magic 1.01. Linux boots allright from the "rescue disk".

Its a ASUS P2B-DS with: one 450 MHz PII, one SCSI and one IDE drive.

I selected the SCSI driver as a AIC2* something but the install software
found out that it was a AIC7xxx (7890). So long alls swell.

The network card is a 3Com 900B, installed as 3Com 9xx. And it seems to work
(could ping, havent tried anything else).

Ive split my HDs in several parts.

First my SCSI harddisk:
C (primary) is used for Win98 (boot and software) (7Gbyte)
E (extended) is used for Win98 (data disk) (203MByte)
"E" is just to make sure that the linux part is invisible. Tried without "E"
and Win98 (or Linus, or PM4 or BM or something else) lost one partion ( all
my games :-(, anyway this was the only way to keep Win98 from "mounting" the
linux partion.
Whats left of the extended partion is set as (sda6) "/" (1.5GByte)

Then my IDE drive:
D (primary) is used by Win98 (data)
(2GByte)
F (extended) is used by Win98 (data) (2GByte)
Whats left of the extended partion is used by Linux as follows:
        hda6 is /boot
(16MByte)
        hda7 is /home
(5.5GByte)
        hda8 is swap
(133MByte)

LILO is installed on hda6 (disk druid wanted it there).

I used diskdruid to set the Linux partions (no complains or errors). Partion
Magic did the rest (left free space for linux).

Note this system was a Win98 system, I used PM 4.0 to make space for Linux.

.................................................

What happens is that when I select to boot Linux it just goes through the
"prepare to run" stuff and Linux shows "LI" thats all. If I use the "rescue"
disk (fd0) everything works perfect. Including x (Matrox G200).

PS. I want to use BootMagic (do not want to use bootdisk), and Im missing my
games :-( DS.
