Thanks, to all who responded. I've concluded that Mathematica is a bit too
pricy for my taste. I know of two Windows based alternatives. Derive and
Maple. AFAIK they are also not for free and they require WIN/DOS. Anybody
have suggestions/URLs for Linux based alternatives?
