Yes, I have been using system commander deluxe since it first came out. I
love the program because of the easy in which I can boot between linux and
windows. I don't know exactly what you want me to tell you, so I will only
tell you one thing: DON'T use the OS install wizard that is part of System
Commander, as it will just screw you up and cause much pain and hardship.
Install linux using its own install program, then write the lilo boot
record to your parition (not the master boot record). When you reboot the
system, if you have system commander installed it should detect a new OS
and add it to your boot list. Its flakey at time though, so once I had to
manually add linux to the boot screen, and once I had to tell syscom that
my linux swap file was not something I would like to be able to boot.
Aside from these few minor problems, I love it. I have my configuration
set so when I turn my machine on, it waits 9 seconds then boots up to
windows 98. This saves me grief because my mom also uses my machine, and
she gets upset when I have the computer automatically boot to linux.
If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.
Does anybody on the list have some experience with a product
called System Commander (specifically the Deluxe version)?
For the uninitiated, it allows 'easy' management of different
OS'es on one machine (similar to LILO).
Thanks,
Johan Pretorius
