Keith,

The only interesting tidbit I can see in your headers is seen in
the following clip :

Received: from localhost (localhost [[UNIX: localhost]])
        by pantryspen (8.9.3/8.8.7) id VAA00585
        for testlist; Thu, 9 Sep 1999 21:01:17 -0600

Here is the corresponding portion of the envelope from another
sender to this list who is using KMail :

Received: from weathertop.home (pm3b-28.meer.net [209.157.134.28])
        by meer.meer.net (8.9.3/8.9.3/meer) with SMTP id TAA11274;
        Fri, 18 Jun 1999 19:26:31 -0700 (PDT)

As you can see, the second person also appears to be using a
dialup connection, but the ip-address of his host (and the hostname) are
getting resolved correctly. I am not sure what this means (perhaps it
indicates some MTA misconfiguration on your part). Maybe, wiser souls on
this list can give you an answer.

As regards your other query, one possibility that you havent
considered is that maybe you are asking the wrong list. People on this
list are generally very helpful, and if you didnt get any reply at all, it
could be that yours is not a newbie question. You could try the linux-net
mailing list.

Regards,
Kenneth
