Good Evening:

I am having the worst time trying to get myself hooked up online. I
have read the ppp-howto, ISP-connectivity-mini-howto, and the
ISP-hookup-howto, as well as a number of books, and I still am having
problems logging on.

As far as I know, in order to have my modem dial to my isp I need to set
ppp0, /dev/modem, gateway and dns. I have done this and I dial to my isp,
but I always get kicked off. I used minicom to connect to my isp, and I
have the following prompt:

intelliserver release 1.54b Port 1
ts-commack login:
password:

My question is about the expected logon reply and its answers. Should I
include ALL this information, or should I just include:

Expect: s-commack login:
Answer: ******
Expect: assword:
Answer: ****

If I include the Intelliserver release line, what do I put for an answer?

I am running Redhat Linux 6.0
I have a static IP address
When I connect online through windows, It takes about 50 seconds for my
dialup networking to connect.

Please, I have been trying for weeks to get my system online. I am always
able to dial to the isp, and If I exit gnome I see the following on the
screen: (I added the line numbers)

1. Xlib: client is not authorized to connect to server
2. Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0
3. Audit: Sat Sept 18 14:21:07 1999: 570 xwrapper: client 5 rejected from
local host
4. Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
5. Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

I believe line 2 and 5 are the result of gnome becoming unresponsive after
I get disconnected.

Please, any help will be met with much thanks

John
