I don't actually recognize this kernel option, and it's not listed in the
BootPrompt HowTo (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/BootPrompt-HOWTO.html). But
if it follows the usual rules, it will need to read
console=/dev/ttyS0
specifying the full path to the device and its correct name (S, not s).
You probably also need to set up a *getty process in /etc/inittab to watch
the device. Beyond that, I don't know how to do what you want, but I hope
these guesses help you to move ahead. Good luck.
