I am new to Linux, but have learnt a lot on my own in the past few weeks.
I have installed the Mandrake-Linux (Red Hat 6.0) "Venus" distro. On my Linyux
partition I can mount my DOS (FAT) drive and all my hpfs drives in KDE and
in GNOME. To do this, I used "linuxconf", and while creating the mounts, I
enabled (or *think* I did) write access. Also, I enabled write access in the properties
of the desktop drive objects. Nevertheless, I can only read or copy from
the hpfs partition, but not write (or delete) anything there.
Could this be a limitation of the Mandrake 6.0 kernel? I have not yet
advanced to the stage of compiling a kernel. With my "phobia" for programming
it might be a while still. The only 'command-line' stuff that I have done are:
xf86config, mouseconfig, and linuxconf. So kindly explain to me step-by-step
(at "dummy" level!)....
Thanks in advance,
