John,
I have installed GAIM which I found at http://www.linuxberg.com/ under
Software, X11, Communications, Messengers. You can download either the
RPM or the tarball right there at that page.
I installed the RPM without a hitch, although I haven't really op-checked it
yet.
The following comes from http://uol.linuxberg.com/x11html/com_messengers.html
GAIM
Version: Stable 0.9.7
Revision Date: August 3, 1999
Byte Size: 298,754
License: GPL
Binaries: RPM
Home Page: http://www.marko.net/gaim/
Description: GAIM is an Open Source 'clone' of America OnLine's Instant Messenger
client
using the GTK+ toolkit. It features most of the functionality of the official AIM
client while
being much smaller and faster. It features multiple groups, group chat, user
information
fetching and registration, time stamping, sound (for when you really do want to be
interrupted), multiple away messages and more.
