Gurus:
Thanks all of you who helped me to try to figure out how to mount my Parport
Zip. After looking at various documents, as well as studying your responses,
I've figured out that to mount my Zip drive, which is connected to my parallel
port, and with the directory /mnt/zip as a mount point, I didn't have to mess
with config files or anything else.
All that I did was 'insmod parport' and then 'insmod ppa' followed by
'mount -t vfat /dev/sda4 /mnt/zip' ( I can't believe I had not tried 'insmod
parport' first!!)
Granted, this won't allow me to automount it or anything, but since going 100%
Linux, I haven't been able to access ANY info. I saved to my zip cartridges.
That's all changed now. I can see my old Netscape bookmark file, my email
address list and so on. Next time I do something so brave and daring (stupid?)
as to format my entire hard drive and start anew (this could be a moot point
because I no longer run windoze) I'll put by backup files on FLOPPY instead of
Zip cartridges!
Thanks again everybody, including Richard Adams and Shawn Campbell.
Now to tackle the new SCSI ZIP drive!
