Right. Hiy'all,

After some absence from here....I'm back! Not only am I back, but I'm back,
and I have a schnazzy new Linux system: Slackware 4.0. And it seems to
mostly work, apart from some MP3's that don't play, couldn't get Center to
make...but other stuff works, like I'm using micq instead. ... OK. Anyway.
Shortly after I got Slackware 4.0 installed, I thought to myself, OK, I
need to compile a new kernel. There is a set of kernel patches that output
to a speech synthesizer on the console, and I'd better learn how to make my
own for when there's not a precompiled one. (I stumbled into a precompiled
kernel with this particular set of patches already, so I got to install
with that.) OK! So I made several variations on the 2.2.12 kernel, and
finally settled on one with Ethernet and sound support. I may change this
someday and load everything except the drives as modules, but not
today...one thing at a time, please.

OK, the question then is... The error that I get is in the subject of this
message, and it comes up only when I do a ps. No big deal, I just wonder,
well, if it's a big deal, and how to fix it? The System.map file doesn't
seem to be very readable. What'd I miss?

Nearly gates-free...
