I am running RH 6.0 w/ Gnome on a NEC Ultra-Mini 486. I never
could get LILO to boot RH from the hard drive, so I was using a
boot diskette. There are two partitions on the 200MB drive- a root
(hda1) of 190MB, and a swap (hda2/5) of 10MB. The diskette is
having I/O errors, and my backup bootdisks are nowhere to be
found.

I have another system running the same RH6 (2.2.5-15) but booting
from a different partition (it is a dual boot system) and running K
(not Gnome)- is there a way to "mkbootdisk" a new bootdisk and
manually edit it to work with the NEC system which boots from
hda1? I tried hacking a new bootdisk, but get stuck at "LIL-". I
have used the rescue disk to boot the NEC and mount the hard
drive, but being a newbie, I am lost as to what I could do from the
prompt to bring the system (and x) back up.

Any help would be much appreciated. I have already read the LILO
mini-howto and attempted to create a bootdisk from scratch,
however, I have not had any luck.
