wget is the best! It's commandline but has a few GUI frontends which
has been developed for it. Get it from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/wget/
. The frontends are available from http://freshmeat.net .
for instance, ever needed to download a large file to a remote linux
server, but you couldn't stick around to see it get done? try the
following and logout.
bash$> nohup wget -c --tries=0 URL &
where URL is the web address of the file.
