When you say your application, if you mean you're writing ( or have written it ). There is a daemon(3) library call that will do what you want. Just add a command line flag for it... Anyhoo. If you didn't write it. (or dont care) try nohup programname & -- nohup prevents it from getting a hangup signal when you log out. and the & makes it run in the background... if you dont have nohup on your system it's part of the GNU sh-utils. enjoy greg --
