AHA-1540CF hanging my install

All,

        I've built a tertiary system to install Mandrake 6.5 on and it's
hanging while scanning the Adaptec 1542 bus...

        Termination is set properly. Devices are:

SCSI 7: Adaptec AHA-1540CF card
SCSI 0: R.A.R.E. RS3105 hard drive
SCSI 1:  SANYO CD-250S CDROM

        Synch is on. The hard drive and card diagnostics check 4.0

Any ideas?
