Sorry - I misjudged the complexity of your requirements. I don't know of the
app you are describing, but that doesn't mean it does not exist. Were I to
need to do this, here's what I would do:

        1. Connect the two machines. This requires a modem eliminator, no
matter what else you do, as that requirement is dictated by the wiring of
the serial ports. (If you used a DOS-based program to do such transfers, it
probably came with a suitable cable, which you can reuse for this application.)

        2. On the server (probably the "slave" in your terminology),
uncomment the line in /etc/inittab that provides a serial console on the
appropriate serial port and restart init ("init q").

        3. On the client (the "master"), use minicom to open a console
session to the server.

        4. Use the sz/rz pair of programs to do the file transfers.

This is the easiest procedure I know. If it is still too much ... well, then
perhaps someone else will be able to suggest something simpler.
