1. What version of OpenLinux?
2. "Shortly into the installation"is too vague. What is the last message on
the screen before it stops? If it is an error message, what is the last
normal progress message that precedes it?
3. What are the basics of your hardware? In particular, how much RAM? Does
the hard disk have a swap partition already defined?
4. Have you already checked the possibility that it simply is a bad floppy disk?
