video adapter

Hi,
    I'm a newer of  linux. I'm setuping Linux 5.3 . My video adapter is
S3 630. When I config video driver in setup,  Linux can probe the
adapter, but I can see a part of screen when I run startx, I need move
mouse to see the rest of screen. why?
   I wish somebody can help me.
