I am upgrading my Samba file server with a 13 GB hard drive. I would
appreciate suggestions as to how the HDD could be partitioned. I use
Slackware 3.5, kernel 2.0.34

What I have in mind is as follows:
hda1 /dos 200 MB #just to have another door into the HDD,
not to install win95 or anything
hda2 / 2 GB
hda3 /home 8 GB # or should this be split to smaller partitions
and linked back to /home?
hda4 /usr 2 GB # I read somewhere that this could also be
/usr/local
hda5 swap 128 MB # I have 16 MB RAM but I thought might as
well use the maximum possible swap partition.
What is left is less that 1 GB and I could put in in / or /home or spread
it around

I vaguely remember reading that partitions could/should also be devoted to
/var
/tmp
although I am not that familiar with them, esp /var

I tried the HOWTOs but did not seem to find anything on the subject. If
there is one, pointing to
the right direction would be appreciated.

TIA,
