Hi all!

Quick Background:
First ever install of Linux, never heard of it before a month ago.
Successfully performed a basic floppy install on a DigitalPentium 60 by
downloading the Debian images.

' went out and bought, "Mastering Linux" by Armand Danesh last Wednesday and
installed RH5.1 - Boy was that cake compared to the floppies!

My problem is this:
I can't log in as anyone other than root.
I've created users in X Windows Control Panel - tried "No Password", "Change
Password" even tried "Unlock" in case default was "Lock" - I didn't really
think so, but you gotta try. I've gone back in and added other users and
edited the previous ones, checked their default shell to be /bin/bash. Each
user is in its own group, but that shouldn't matter. I tried changes anyway.
I'm also conscience of case sensitivity.

Not being fond of GUI anyway, I then went to the command line with :
useradd <username>
I still couldn't log in - Not across the Ethernet so I thought my smb was
misconfigured, but it won't even work at the Linux box. When I check, the
users are all listed.

What am I missing? ' must be something simple.

Thanks.
Jack
