People disagree sharply about the relative values of various editors. As the
old joke goes ... some swear by vi, others swear at it. I like it myself,
but I won't defend that as anything firmer than a personal preference.

Before you rm vi (or for that matter any editor included with your base
install), make sure it is not defined in your environment (actually, in ANY
user's environment) as the default editor, or other programs (elm is an
example I can think of off the top of my head; crontab is another) will not
work correctly. Also make sure you have **some** simple editor in /bin or
/sbin -- this is for emergencies if you have problems with booting and nedd
to start up in a restricted mode.

If you wander into vi accidentally and can't get out, press EXC, then :q! to
quit, discarding any editing you have done -- ESC, then :wq to save and quit.
