Hi list;
You may remember that my backspace key stopped working in X/KDE after I
shuffled my partitions.
Since it only affected some users, I tried to find differences in their
setups. In a Config-HOWTO I found reference to backspace not working
correctly in xterm and other X11 apps. The HOWTO referenced an .Xmodmap
file, and my xinitrc file referred to $HOME/.Xmodmap and
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/.Xmodmap. I had neither file.
I created both with the line: keycode 22 = BackSpace.
And now my backspace key works again!
It's strange that the users that weren't affected by the problem didn't
have the two files either. I dunno.
Thanks Lawson, for all your help. I haven't studied your last post yet,
but I will because I'm sure I'll learn something.
Maybe I'll be able to figure out my 'home' and 'end' keys now!
Tom - slowly working his way down the newbie scale.
