Ok, heres how I got this to work...not sure why it works, but it seems to work :-)

Our NT Server is setup for MicroShaft Internet Exchange....or something like that.

In netscape, I set my  Edit/Preferences/Mail Servers to IMAP.  This allowed me to have
multiple mail servers.

I added a new mail server which was named "123.123.12.1"  (I used the IP address of 
our server)

I still don't have the address book...

(BTW, the samba utility "ksamba" is a GUI based samba configuration tool...I don't 
know what to
configure yet, but it seems to work :-)
