Thanks Marvin. I re-installed, making sure that everything I could find that said ppp was checked. It worked. As soon as it booted it signed on. But..... then I rebooted...... now, during a reboot it stalls at "starting sendmail", "starting http", and "starting INND". And just crashes before initializing X. It's stuck in a cycle. The crosshatch-kinda-looking screen before X flashes on then back off to a black screen. (my girlfriend wrote a message in the dust on the screen, maybe it could be that :} ). I tried a full re-install and it's still doing it. I'm getting a flash on the hub led so it makes sense that it has something to do with the eth0 port (to me anyway). I'm connected to an iMac but right now it's dead-ending because I have the iMac set for ppp not ethernet, as far as I know I can't have both going at the same time. I have tried to boot with the iMac ethernet prot enabled also. Still a 30 minute reboot. Can you see a reason and maybe a solution for this without me having to clean the screen????? Ahhh wait. It just ended the cycle back at the pre-X login prompt and I am able to login as root. There may be light. But were do I go from here? TIA, John "Marvin J.
