Thanks for the reply. This is becoming pretty frustrating.

/dev/cua was the MSDOS COMM right? I thought that was now tty<n>.

Ok, I tried ttyS<n>.

And I've tried /dev/modem. What's "AFAIK"?

So are you saying that if the modem is on ttyS0 then /dev/modem and
/dev/ttyS0 are the same thing?

I've tried:

1) Red Hat as a server install and a workstation install (not sure yet
what the actual differences are as far as the installed components).

2) I individually re-loaded everything that said ppp (kppp, etc). And I
got it to work (thanks to Marvin). But only once. I rebooted and it
never worked again. Even when I repeated this step.

3) I've been using netconfig most of the time. Trying about 20 different
absurd combinations (hey sonetimes the stupid things work for me).

Ok. I've been stalling. I reloaded the server install and now when it's
booting it takes 20 minutes to boot. As I mentioned in a post earlier
today. I think it's trying to do an autoconfig???? Maybe???

Actually this particular boot is weighing in at over an hour. I'll do a
script when i get this thing happening again. I think it's that
autoconfig problem that I thought it was earlier.

I've been working on this for 9 hours already today and have gotten
nowhere. Errrr!!!
