Kmail in Mandrake 6.1

I know this is not the list for the Mandrake distro but I hope someone can
still help.

In this distro, Kmail is shown on the menus but when I click on it to start
it, the screen flashes once as though trying to load it and then stops.  The
program never comes up.

Could somebody tell me what I can do to get Kmail going on Mandrake 6.1?

I would appreciate it very much.
