Mitsumi drives are not IDE drives therefor they are not /dev/hdx they are
/dev/mcd

The mitsumi mcd used to have a hard cored default of IRQ 11 and i belive
0x320 as port address. On my machine here with a mitsumi single speed cdrom
it has the default and when i installed slackware 3.4 years ago i hd no
problem.
You can use windows to find the exacht irq and address, or open the box up,
i belive the irq and address's are printed on the card showing which jumper
does what.
When you know where it is you can pass the address and irq to the install
program, i think i am correct in saying something like the following;
mcd io=0x320 irq=11

Well that would not work, as you would need about 1Gb of space left after
coping the RPMS to the H/D, a full install is around 1Gb, i cant remember
exactly how much it is with redhat.

Let me know if that works or not, my machine in which the mitsumi is
located is not used for anything at the minute, i could see what happens
with redhat. As i said slackware 3.4 found it no problem. I think the
answer is still, if the drive is not at the default irq and port address it
wount be found.
