That sounds like a geometry problem the disk cyls is quite possable set to
more than 1024 which would irritate lilo.

That should not affect lilo in the sense of giving LI as a prompt.

Then you possably dont have lilo on the MBR as above you said lilo works

LILO will always have problems with a disk that is set to more than 1024
cyls, that is only if the root filesystem partition is not completly within
1023 cyls. If it is outside then lilo will not operate from the MBR.

Well at least you seem to have solved your own problems, however its nice
to hear just HOW the problems were solved.

On that note, Ray, Lawson and myself have said before its always a good idea
to send a message saying what solved your problems, that way one can direct
another person with the same problems to the archives for his answer(s).
