security issues with nfs/rdist

I am curious as to if this is going to be a good idea.  I have a webserver
serving an email interface.  I have a different server for the mail
server.  I want to mount the /var/spool/mail dir and the user dirs into
the webserver with nfs and update the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files
with rdist.  Would this be a good way to incorporate these two servers
together?
