Hi all!

I was trying to install a mailing list manager (eSquire) on my Linux box
(PPro 180/32MB/1GB/4x/etc) last night and found that I had neglected to
include a C compiler when I installed RH 6.1.  I thought, no problem, I'll
just find the appropriate RPM and install it, but lo and behold there is no
RPM labeled what I'd expect; i.e., "cc" or "gcc." So finally I just ran an
upgrade from the CD-ROM and checked all the packages listed under
programming languages that looked like they had something to do with C. It
worked!

But I'd sure like to know: which RPM is the one that actually includes the
GNU C (and C++) compiler?

Also, how do you use rpm flags to display the comments about an RPM?
(KDE/Gnome tools do this automatically, but I'm not running X on any
machine in this particular office, and I'm having trouble understanding the
syntax in the rpm man file...)

Thanks,

Jeff Nelson
