First I'll make sure I understand your goal.
You want to run programs on you home computer, but have the gui
        appear on your work computer?

There are two ways you can do this. ( I'm assuming you're running
some kind of machine with the X window system on _both_ ends.

        1-
                On your work machine
        [rick@work]$xhost +name.of.home.machine
        [rick@work]$telnet name.of.home.machine
        Ricks Home Machine
        Login: rick
        Password:
(editors note: this next line shouldn't be nessisary)
        [rick@home]$export DISPLAY=name.of.work.machine:0.0
        [rick@home]$someXbasedProgramname
and poof it should appear on your screen. (This will be
painfully slow with anything less that ISDN at both ends,
        and even w/ISDN (128k) won't be great.

        2-
There are numerous security implications of the above.
You should look at ssh.(Secure Shell) It will provide
an encrypted connection for both text + xwindows programs
                ftp://ftp.cis.fed.gov/pub/ssh/
                you want version 1.2.27

It's really darn cool, provides integration with pgp
where I have to type 1 passphrase one time when I turn
my machine on, and I can connect to any computer I have
an account on(a bunch all over the place) without typing
a password again. And it's encrypted. neat stuff.

hope this helps
