It is becoming more and more important not to define a linux partition
before stating the install, this because more and more distro's wont
install on disks which have predefined partitions, they will only install
on disks which have empty space, corel is one and i belive caldera is
another, altho' i am not to sure on caldera anymore.

As to making partitions for /home /usr /boot with such a small piece of
disk space i would advice just to make one partition "/", 0ne meg is rather
small, to small for a complete install of cladera, slackware full install i
belive is 996megs and redhat is 1200.

You do not have to do a full install however i belive around 500 megs will
be used by most disto's for a work stn.
